What is CBD E-Liquid?

CBD is short for cannabidiol.

You’re probably familiar with it as one of the many compounds found in the cannabis plant – that would be weed, ganja, herb or whatever you choose to call it.

The most well-known compound in the cannabis plant is THC (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol), which is responsible for most of the psychoactive effects of cannabis. In short, THC is what gets you stoned. But THC is just one of over 80 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD is the next most abundant chemical in the most commonly-used strains of cannabis. Other cannabinoids include cannabinol, cannibichromene and cannabigerol.

A cannabinoid is just a name for a chemical which interacts with the cannabinoid receptors in your body. Your body even makes its own cannabinoids, called “endocannabinoids,” with anandamide (sometimes called the “bliss molecule”) being the most famous example. In contrast to endocannabinoids, those made by plants are called “phytocannabinoids,” and this includes CBD and THC.

Computer Man Each individual cannabinoid has different effects, and the amounts of each present in cannabis varies with each specific strain of the plant. Increasing the amount of THC is the biggest concern for recreational use, but for medical use, high-CBD strains are very common. However, much of the CBD for sale these days is grown from industrial hemp, which tends to have substantial amounts of CBD with only miniscule amounts of THC.
